Matt Prigge has written about film for Philadelphia Weekly since the all the way back at the turn of the century. He of course means the turn of the 19th. He’s also written for Metro, Nerve, Nashville Scene and Phawker. Some of his lesser accomplishments include discovering air, founding Paul McCartney & Wings, personally building the Guggenheim brick by brick and catching sharks. Cats seem to like him.

Some favorite movies: The Last Laugh, Un Chien Andalou, Bringing Up Baby, A Matter of Life and Death, Daisy Kenyon, Pierrot le fou, Celine and Julie Go Boating, Jeanne Dielman 23 Quai du Commerce 1080 Bruxelles, Airplane, Baby Boom, Virile Games, Cold Water and Sátántangó.

Some favorite movies that never happened: Orson Welles’ Don Quixote, Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Dune, Jacques Tati’s Confusion with Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks, Mad Max 4, Michael Cimino’s Footloose, Oliver Stone’s Planet of the Apes and Mikio Naruse’s The Return of the Pink Panther Returns.
